The INCAP Zurich Learning Exchange builds on the Indy Chamber’s long-standing Leadership Exchange tradition, connecting regional leaders with global models that accelerate economic growth, talent development, and competitiveness. These exchanges are intentionally designed to go beyond observation, offering candid conversations, site visits, and peer learning that challenge assumptions and spark action.
This exchange will focus specifically on the Swiss Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) system. The foundation of VPET is an apprenticeship students complete while in the Swiss equivalent of high school. It then continues with either university enrollment or industry-led training for adults to upskill or reskill. The hallmark of the Swiss system is a structure that allows students to move between the vocational, professional, and academic pathways without losing credit for the experience and education they’ve earned to date.
Switzerland’s system is widely regarded as the benchmark for aligning education and industry: creating clear, respected pathways from learning to high-value careers while meeting real-time workforce needs. Through curated sessions and firsthand exposure, delegates will examine how employer leadership, policy alignment, and cultural commitment come together to produce outcomes Indiana is actively working toward.
By the end of the exchange, participants will return not only with insight, but with a sharper, shared understanding of how Indiana can continue building INCAP into a modern, employer-driven education and training pathway that connects talent to opportunity.
